AICIP Renewals or Recertifications

AICIP certification is recognised nationally. Obtaining an AICIP certification can expand your career options or job opportunities. AICIP certification must be renewed or recertified every five years to ensure inspectors maintain their competency and stay up to date with industry standards and best practices.

AICIP certification is the recognised benchmark for in-service inspectors of boilers, pressure vessels, and pressure piping across Australia. Designed to uphold the highest standards of safety, integrity, and technical expertise, AICIP certification demonstrates an inspector’s capability to conduct thorough and compliant inspections in line with national legislation and Australian Standards. Whether you’re starting your journey as an In-Service Inspector or advancing to a Senior In-Service Inspector role, achieving AICIP certification can open new career pathways and enhance your professional credibility.

Certification must be renewed or recertified every five years to ensure inspectors maintain their skills and remain current with evolving industry requirements. By choosing AICIP certification, you’re committing to excellence in inspection practice and contributing to the ongoing safety and reliability of critical plant and equipment.

Renewing & Re-certifying

Renewal Application

AICIP Certification is valid for 5 years. To apply for a renewal assessment you are required to submit a minimum of 5 inspection reports; a letter from your current/or last employer detailing the work undertaken; and a declaration declaring all information is true and correct. Applications will only be assessed if all information is provided. Renewal applications will be processed through WeldQ. The fee for renewals is $900 (for members), or $1,080 (for non-members).

Recertification

Recertification is the same as the 5-year renewal process listed above. Assessment of the Inspectors continuing competency is based off full assessment of past and current inspection reports, types and amount of Pressure Equipment inspected, their Continual Professional Development and verbal confirmation of satisfactory inspection performance from an employer or client. Paper F will only be applied where deemed necessary to confirm competency. Applications will only be assessed if all information is provided. The fee for recertification is $900 (for members), or $1,080 (for non-members).

Has your certification expired?

If your certification has expired for a period longer than six months, your certification will lapse and you will be required to apply for re-certification (Paper F).
