Daniel Middleton

Senior Welding Technologist

Drawing from over 15 years’ rich, hands-on experience in welding and quality control, Daniel joined Weld Australia as a Senior Welding Technologist in 2024, based in Mackay.

He started his career as a boilermaker at Bucyrus, honing his skills fabricating underground and surface mining equipment. Daniel then took on a boilermaker and welding supervisor role at J & S Engineering Maintenance, developing welding procedures, and undertaking weld testing, inspection and reporting.

Daniel moved into the role of QC Welding Coordinator and Inspector at MC Quality. Here, he pioneered the Glencore Welder Competency Scheme, an initiative that set new benchmarks across all Glencore mine sites. His proficiency in developing welding procedure specifications and his meticulous approach to quality assurance significantly contributed to the company’s success. In recognition of this, Daniel was promoted to Queensland State Manager at MC Quality.  His strategic oversight in establishing the Queensland branch and managing a team of welding inspectors underscored his exceptional managerial skills and his ability to drive operational excellence.

Most recently, Daniel embarked on a new chapter as the Welding Specialist at Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, where he continued to leverage his extensive knowledge and expertise in quality management systems. In this role, Daniel was instrumental in drafting QA packs, maintaining welder qualifications, and ensuring stringent compliance with welding and surface preparation standards.
