This collaboration will provide Australian manufacturers with direct access to cutting-edge automation solutions, world-class research and development (R&D), and advanced training programs.

Douglas Luciani, President & Chief Executive Officer, CWB Group
Doug Luciani joined the CWB Group in May 1991 after working for Caterpillar and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), CWB Group in September 2006. Doug serves as a member of the Edison Welding Institute (EWI) Board of Directors since June 2022. Doug is also the Vice-Chair of the CWB Welding Foundation Board of Directors. Doug is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business. Doug also holds a Welder/Fitter diploma from Sheridan College. Doug is a Professional Engineer in the Province (P.Eng.) of Ontario. He is also a Professional Associate Member of the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) a Member of the American Welding Society (AWS) and holds an ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD). Doug is currently the Past President of the International Institute of Welding (IIW), an organization comprised of close to 60 countries that is based out of Genoa, Italy.
Henry Cialone, President and CEO, EWI
Dr. Henry Cialone is President and CEO of EWI, an advanced engineering service provider dedicated to identifying, developing, and implementing innovative technology solutions that enhance manufacturing competitiveness. He has a record of creating new business opportunities through technological innovation and building broad coalitions to develop them.
Since joining EWI in 2005, Henry has enhanced the company’s resources and capabilities to shape the future of manufacturing by establishing new operations in Buffalo, NY; expanded the company’s portfolio of manufacturing technologies; created public-private partnerships such as the American Lightweight Materials Manufacturing Innovation Institute (dba LIFT); and increased technology commercialization activities to deliver broader market benefits. During his tenure, EWI has created a variety of spinout companies based on technologies it invented: UltraThinSeal™ reduces packaging film costs with an innovative sealing technology; Acoustech Systems (acquired by Cumberland Resources in 2017) increases machining productivity by combining high-power ultrasound with conventional machining operations; Fabrisonic (acquired by United Performance Materials in 2025) produces complex metal parts using ultrasonic additive manufacturing; and RealWeld Systems (acquired by Lincoln Electric in 2015) addresses a critical workforce need by helping trainers accelerate the development and certification of welders. Prior to EWI, Henry was an executive at Battelle where he developed and managed the commercial energy technology portfolio. He led Battelle’s commercial energy business and served on the governing board of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Henry has served on numerous boards and advisory bodies. He has completed executive management programs at Fuqua and Wharton.
