PRESSURE WELDING TRAINING SIMULATOR
Power Generation Industry Group
The Pressure Welding Training Simulator is a purpose-built training facility housed within a modified container and fitted with boiler tube arrangements that closely replicate those found in actual power station boilers.
The simulator includes configurations representing key boiler sections, including the economiser, reheater, superheater and waterwall, along with a range of tube materials commonly used in power station environments. This gives participants the opportunity to develop and refine their skills in conditions that closely mirror real plant situations.
Designed to support apprentices, early-career welders and less experienced tradespeople, the simulator provides practical, hands-on training in pressure welding techniques for boiler tube applications. It also serves as an effective environment for experienced pressure welders to refresh and maintain critical skills.
Training and skills refreshment are particularly valuable in the lead-up to major outages and overhauls, where welding quality is essential. By helping welders practise in a realistic setting before undertaking shutdown work, the simulator aims to improve weld quality, reduce weld failure rates, and ultimately help minimise boiler tube failures.
