Welding Inspectors are integral to ensuring the quality of welds. They use their practical knowledge and leadership skills to ensure the highest levels of weld quality are maintained.

 

The International Welding Inspector – Standard (IWI-S) course includes a suite of materials reflecting on the knowledge of welding and application of inspection theory. This includes inspection procedures and acceptance criteria; weld imperfection identification; fabrication works; and mechanical and visual inspection techniques.

The International Institute of Welding (IWI), IWI-S qualification will broaden and strengthen your career horizons. In fact, the IWI-S qualification is recognised by AS/NZS ISO 3834 and AS/NZS 1554.1.

COURSE CONTENT

The IWI – S course takes place over eight days, with face-to-face teaching.

The course includes six modules of engaging materials, including:

  • General introduction to welding inspection
  • Mechanical testing on welded joints
  • Weld imperfections
  • Testing methods
  • Quality assurance
  • Management of inspection function

All course presenters are recognised as International Welding Engineers or Technologists with several years of practical industry experience to support you through the course.

DIPLOMA & CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive an IIW IWI-S Diploma.

Once you have successfully completed three years in the industry, you may apply to become a Weld Australia Certified Senior Welding Inspector.

COURSE & EXAM COSTS

Course modules can be paid for individually, conditions apply. Examinations are not included in the initial fees, and therefore will be subject to an additional cost.

Exam enrolments and payments are conducted through Weld Australia’s WeldQ platform.
