Weld Australia is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified Australian professionals to participate in the proposed ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section IX Australia International Working Group.
The Working Group will provide a formal mechanism for Australian industry experts to contribute to the development, review, interpretation and ongoing improvement of ASME BPVC Section IX – Welding, Brazing and Fusing Qualifications.
The proposed Working Group will operate under the direction of the ASME BPVC Section IX Committee and in accordance with ASME Codes and Standards procedures. Weld Australia will act as the Australian coordinating body and support engagement between ASME and local industry.
The Working Group will:
Provide Australian technical expertise and industry perspectives to the ASME Section IX Committee.
Review and comment on proposed revisions to ASME Section IX.
Consider technical inquiries, interpretations and clarification requests.
Identify issues affecting the practical application of Section IX within Australia.
Develop proposals for consideration through the ASME codes and standards process.
Support greater consistency in welding, brazing and fusing qualification practices.
Strengthen Australia’s participation in international standards development.
Help align Australian capability with the requirements of major defence, energy, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing and pressure-equipment projects.
The Working Group will be consensus-based, technically focused and non-commercial.

Review technical papers, proposed code changes and ballot materials.
Vote on matters considered by the Working Group.
Provide informed technical comments within agreed timeframes.
Contribute to interpretations, clarification requests and proposed revisions.
Participate constructively in a formal, consensus-based standards process.

Maintain the support of their employer for their participation.
This is a non-commercial role requiring ongoing professional commitment. Participation may also involve interaction with the ASME BPVC Section IX Committee and other international working groups.

Ability to contribute objectively to technical discussions.
Capacity to review documents and respond within required timeframes.
Employer support for ongoing participation.

A summary of their experience with ASME Section IX.
Their preferred ASME interest category.
A current CV or professional profile.
