IIW Welding Inspector - Basic (IWI-B)

The IWI-B course is a globally recognised International Institute of Welding (IIW) qualification. This course provides general knowledge of welding, inspection theory and application, including: 

• Non destructive testing
• Mechanical and visual inspection techniques, 
• Inspection procedures and acceptance criteria, 
• Identification of weld imperfections

As a Welding Inspector, you will play an important part in ensuring that welded components comply with the appropriate International or Australian Standards, codes and client specifications. You may also be responsible for ensuring that documentation, procedures and welder qualifications (required to demonstrate compliance) are in place and adhered to.

The IWI-B is an online course ran over 5 weeks. This course will include a mix of pre-recorded material, live online lectures, and other learning resources. The combined learning resources will cover all the topics outlined in the schedule.

Practical Training	This date is tentative depending on trainer availability. A minimum of 3 participants are required to run the session at each location.
Adelaide, Ballarat, Brisbane, Perth, Wollongong	Date: 10 & 11/03/2027 Time: 08:00am – 4:00pm

All examinations will be held in-person at Weld Australia offices or other appointed locations in SA, VIC, WA, NSW and QLD. Candidates will need to bring their own laptops to complete the examination using WeldQ.   They will be required to download the Chrome extension prior to arriving at the examination centre, to allow them to be able to share the camera and microphone from their laptop.  If the participants are going to be using a work computer, please ensure that there are no restrictions on downloading the Chrome extension before arriving at the examination centre.  More information will be provided about setting up their computer by the Q&C Team.
