About this course
This program is intended for welding personnel seeking to enhance their occupational knowledge through structured theoretical training and to obtain formal qualifications for welds they routinely perform, or to upskill and gain qualification in additional weld types/positions.

What to bring: Students are requires to bring full PPE
Day one covers the basic (non-mandatory) job knowledge theory component of AS/NZS ISO 9606.1 — welding equipment & processes, parent & filler metals, safety, welding procedures & welder qualification, and weld imperfections. Days 2–5 include practical welding training and examination, with students able to select from Manual Metal Arc (MMAW/111), Gas Metal Arc (GMAW/MAG/135) and Flux Cored Arc (FCAW/MAG/136) welding on carbon steel plates across a range of positions.
AS/NZS ISO 9606.1 qualification is recognised across ASME IX, the AS/NZS 1554 series, AS 1988 and AS 3992. Prerequisite: current basic practical experience in the welding process for which qualification is sought.
Funding: Manufacturing Skills Queensland is offering eligible Queensland participants 50% off training and examinations. Eligibility: employee of a QLD manufacturing business (fewer than 200 employees), meets the prerequisites, and resides in QLD.
