Ashkan Abdibastami

Welding Engineer

With over a decade of experience in the welding industry, Ashkan began his career as a materials and welding engineer in the power generation sector overseas, supporting both the manufacture and maintenance of industrial gas turbines and managing quality engineering across the supply chain for cast and forged components. He has in-depth expertise in the welding metallurgy of steels, nickel, and aluminium alloys.

Awarded a prestigious scholarship from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney in 2021, Ashkan completed his PhD in Chemistry in 2025, specialising in the structure and dynamics of advanced materials, alongside a Master of Science in Materials Engineering. Since 2017, he has been an International Welding Engineer (IWE), with extensive experience applying both Australian and international standards.

Ashkan’s focus is auditing Australian fabricators to ensure compliance with AS/NZS ISO 3834 for fusion welding, with expertise in structural steelwork fabrication under AS/NZS 5131 and providing end-to-end welding engineering services, from procedure development to inspection and welding supervision.
